Global Warming 101

by annabramboeck

The National Geographic video explains in a very simple way, how climate change works, how it comes from, how the temperature rise fluctuates or what kind of effects climate change can cause:

Arctic see ices are shrinking (about 10% in the last 30 years)

an increase of 2-10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century

rising sea levels which could flood coastal areas around the world

Weather patterns could change, making hurricanes more frequent

Severe troughts could become more common in warm areas and species unable to adapt to the changing conditions would face distinction

Allthough much remains to be learned about global warming, many organizations applicate cutting down greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the impact of global warming. Consumers can help by saving energy around the house, switching to fluorescent energy saving bulbs and driving fewer miles by car. These simple changes may help keep the earth cooler in the future.
