Global Warming 101

by annabramboeck

The National Geographic video explains in a very simple way, how climate change works, how it comes from, how the temperature rise fluctuates or what kind of effects climate change can cause:

Arctic see ices are shrinking (about 10% in the last 30 years)

an increase of 2-10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century

rising sea levels which could flood coastal areas around the world

Weather patterns could change, making hurricanes more frequent

Severe troughts could become more common in warm areas and species unable to adapt to the changing conditions would face distinction

Allthough much remains to be learned about global warming, many organizations applicate cutting down greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the impact of global warming. Consumers can help by saving energy around the house, switching to fluorescent energy saving bulbs and driving fewer miles by car. These simple changes may help keep the earth cooler in the future.

Climate Change: Arctic warming pushes winter weather further south

by ledlsi

In this Video, Meteorologist Dave Eichorn explains about the impacts a warmer arctic can have on earth. The warming in the Arctic associated with climate change brings colder Temperatures and snowy weather much further south and as the world continues to warm so unevenly, it seems very likely there is going to be additional disruptions in storm tracks and precipitation across the northern hemisphere
